THE ORIGIN STORY
Two Moments That Changed Everything

I was standing in the LEGO aisle at Walmart a few weeks ago, holding a Speed Champions Ayrton Senna McLaren MP4/4 (#10330) and staring at the $40 price tag. I liked the set. I wanted to buy it. But I could not answer the one question that mattered: is this actually a good deal? What is the market price right now? Is it going to retire soon and jump in value, or should I wait for a sale? I stood there for five minutes, scrolling through tabs on my phone, cross-referencing BrickLink averages, trying to do some quick cost-per-piece math in my head. I put the set back on the shelf because I did not have enough information fast enough to make a confident decision.

Two days later, I was at the Bricks & Minifigs grand opening in Leesburg, Florida. The store was packed. Shelves of used and retired sets lined every wall, each with a handwritten price tag. Retired Star Wars sets. Discontinued Creator Expert modulars. Speed Champions sets I had never seen in person. And I had the exact same problem - multiplied by a hundred. I was surrounded by sets I might want to buy, and I had no way to quickly check whether any of those handwritten prices were steals, fair deals, or overpriced. I was guessing. Everyone in that store was guessing.

Those two moments crystallized something I had been thinking about for months. LEGO collectors need a pocket tool. Something you can pull out at the shelf - any shelf, any store, any convention table - and get instant answers. Not a website to bookmark. Not a spreadsheet to maintain. An app that is always ready, always fast, and built specifically for the way collectors actually shop and build.

So I built one.

THE APP
GameSetBrick - Built by a Collector, for Collectors

GameSetBrick is a free web app that puts your entire LEGO life in your pocket. It runs in your phone's browser - no app store download required. It is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can add it to your home screen and it behaves exactly like a native app. Open it, use it, close it. No accounts required to start exploring, no subscription fees hiding behind a paywall, no ads cluttering the interface.

Free to use. No ads. I built this because I needed it. I am sharing it because every collector I know needs it too.

GameSetBrick tracks official LEGO sets - every theme, every active and retired set, with data pulled from BrickLink and Brickset. Whether you collect Star Wars, Modular Buildings, Speed Champions, Architecture, or anything else in the LEGO catalog, your sets are in the database. It works on iPhone, Android, tablet, laptop - any device with a modern browser.

HOW IT COMPARES
GameSetBrick vs Other LEGO Collection Tools

There are other ways to track LEGO collections. Here is an honest comparison of how GameSetBrick stacks up against the most common alternatives.

Spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets). The DIY approach. Flexible but time-consuming. You control everything, but you also maintain everything - manually updating prices, adding new sets, calculating ROI. No barcode scanning, no push notifications, no sharing. GameSetBrick automates everything a spreadsheet makes you do manually.

BrickLink wanted lists. BrickLink's wanted list feature tracks sets you are looking for, not sets you own. It is a buying tool, not a collection tracker. No market value aggregation, no ROI tracking, no deal scores. We wrote a BrickLink wanted lists guide if you want to use both tools together.

Brickset collection tracker. Brickset is excellent for set data and community information. Its collection tracker lets you mark sets as owned and wanted. However, it does not pull live BrickLink market prices, does not calculate ROI, does not offer barcode scanning, and does not have deal scores or Flip Finder functionality. Good for a basic inventory, not for price-aware collection management.

BrickEconomy. Strong for historical price analysis and investment data. Desktop-focused, not a mobile-first collection tracker. No barcode scanner, no Vault concept with purchase prices, no wishlist sharing.

Paid apps (various). Several paid LEGO apps exist with varying subscription costs. GameSetBrick is free to use with no subscription. You get barcode scanning, market prices, deal scores, ROI tracking, GWP alerts, and more without paying anything.

The key difference is that GameSetBrick combines collection tracking, live market pricing, investment analysis, and discovery tools in a single free mobile-first app. No other tool puts all of these capabilities together without a subscription.

WISHLISTS
Never Get the Wrong LEGO Gift Again

This is the feature my family is most excited about. Every birthday and holiday, the same conversation happens: "What LEGO set do you want?" And the answer is always a fumbling attempt to describe a set by theme and color because you cannot remember the exact name or number. Or worse - you get a duplicate of something you already own.

GameSetBrick wishlists solve this completely. Save the sets you want, tap share, and send the link to anyone. They see the exact sets with images, set numbers, and buy links. No guessing. No duplicates. No returning gifts. Just the right set, every time. Read the full wishlist sharing guide to see how it works step by step.

FOR INVESTORS
Track Your LEGO Portfolio Like a Real Investment

LEGO sets appreciate at an average of about 11% per year after retirement. But "average" hides enormous variation. Some sets triple. Others barely move. GameSetBrick gives you the tools to track your specific portfolio performance with real numbers.

The ROI tracking feature calculates per-set returns from your actual purchase price versus current market value. The Flip Finder surfaces sets approaching retirement with the highest projected returns. Combined with the market prices and deal scores, you have a complete investment toolkit - the same tools I use to make every buying decision.

FOR BUILDERS
Tools for MOC Creators and Display Enthusiasts

GameSetBrick is not just for collectors and investors. The scale calculator is the same tool I use for every custom build on The Earl of Bricks. Enter real-world measurements, pick a scale, and get exact LEGO dimensions in studs, bricks, and plates. It was born from building the IMS Pagoda MOC and I use it for every scale-accurate project since.

If you are a MOC builder, check out our guides on building your first MOC, advanced building techniques, and microscale building for ideas to pair with the scale calculator.

WHY FREE
Why Is It Free?

GameSetBrick is free to use because I built it for myself first. I needed a tool that answered questions at the shelf. I needed a collection tracker that did not require a spreadsheet. I needed a wishlist I could share with my family without explaining what BrickLink is. Once I had all of that working, sharing it was the obvious next step.

The app earns revenue through affiliate links when you click through to buy a set. You see the same price whether you click through the app or go directly to the retailer. The affiliate commission costs you nothing and keeps the app running. There are no ads in the app, no premium tier locked behind a paywall, and no data selling. Your collection data is yours.

WHAT IS NEXT
The Roadmap

GameSetBrick launched with 27 features, but development is ongoing. Planned additions include real-time price alerts for specific sets on your watchlist, Amazon pricing integration for direct buy-button comparisons, expanded historical price charts, and community features for connecting with other collectors. Every update deploys instantly to the web - no app store approval delays, no forced updates. You always get the latest version automatically.

If you have feature suggestions or feedback, I read every message. This tool was built for the LEGO community and it will keep growing based on what collectors actually need.

GameSetBrick is live now at gamesetbrick.com - free to use, built for collectors, by a collector. No app store download needed. Works on any device. Start scanning, start tracking, start knowing what your collection is worth.
