INTRODUCTION
One Wave, Eleven Sets, One Ranking

April 2026 drops eleven new LEGO sets on the same day. That is a lot of choices competing for your attention and your budget. Some of these sets are genuinely excellent. Some are fine. And a few land in that awkward middle ground where they are good enough to tempt you but not quite good enough to be essential.

We have reviewed every single one. Here they are, ranked from best to worst based on our five-category scoring system: build experience, technique value, parts haul, display quality, and value for money. No ties. No cop-outs. Let us get into it.

#1
Tintin Moon Rocket (21367) - Score: 8.36
LEGO Tintin Moon Rocket 21367

The best set in the April wave, and it is not particularly close. The Tintin Moon Rocket nails everything: a distinctive build experience with the checkered rocket body, strong display presence at nearly 20 inches tall, and a minifigure lineup that includes five beloved characters plus Snowy. Ideas set number 75 might be the best entry in the line this year.

At $159.99 for 1,283 pieces, the price-per-piece is reasonable for a licensed Ideas set. The emotional connection to Herge's source material elevates this beyond a standard rocket build. If you buy one set in April, make it this one.

#2
Grogu - Mandalorian Apprentice (75446) - Score: 8.26
LEGO Grogu Mandalorian Apprentice 75446

The highest-scoring Star Wars set in the wave, and for good reason. The brick-built Grogu sculpture hits a 9.0 in display quality - the highest single-category score in the entire April lineup. The proportions are excellent, the display stand is clean, and the nameplate adds a premium museum-piece feel.

At 1,200 pieces, the build is substantial without overstaying its welcome. This is the kind of set that converts non-LEGO people. Put it on a shelf and watch how many visitors pick it up.

#3
The Razor Crest (75447) - Score: 8.22
LEGO The Razor Crest 75447

Benjamin Liboriussen does it again. The Razor Crest redesign for the Mandalorian movie era is a sleek, well-proportioned ship build that looks incredible from every angle. The 8.8 display quality score reflects a model that commands attention without needing to be enormous.

The main knock is the price: $149.99 for 930 pieces puts the cost-per-piece at 16 cents, which is on the high side. But LEGO Star Wars ships have always carried a premium, and this one justifies it better than most. If you are a one-ship-per-wave buyer, this is your ship.

#4
Mario Kart - Luigi and Mach 8 (72050) - Score: 8.12
LEGO Mario Kart Luigi and Mach 8 72050

The first 18+ Mario Kart set delivers on scale and personality. At 2,234 pieces, this is a genuine building project - the largest set by piece count in the April wave. The brick-built Luigi sculpture captures the character's energy in a way that flat images do not prepare you for.

Nintendo fans will love it. The display quality is strong at 8.8, and the build experience stays engaging throughout. The one downside is that $179.99 puts it in premium territory, and the Super Mario theme does not have the same adult collector cachet as Star Wars or Ideas.

#5
New Republic X-Wing Starfighter (75460) - Score: 8.10
LEGO New Republic X-Wing 75460

The value sweet spot of the Star Wars wave. At $69.99 for 558 pieces, this X-Wing delivers strong display quality (8.5) at a price point that does not require deliberation. The convertible features add play value, and the New Republic color scheme gives it visual distinction from the dozen other X-Wings in the LEGO catalog.

Not the flashiest set in the lineup, but possibly the smartest purchase. Good build, good display, fair price.

#6
Anzellan Starship (75445) - Score: 7.80
LEGO Anzellan Starship 75445

A solid mid-range Star Wars ship that does its job well without excelling in any one area. The 8.2 display score is respectable, and at $74.99 it occupies the pricing gap between the X-Wing and the Razor Crest nicely. If you are collecting the full Mandalorian wave, this fills the gap. If you are cherry-picking, others rank higher.

#7
TMNT BrickHeadz (40878) - Score: 7.58
LEGO TMNT BrickHeadz 40878

The nostalgia pick. Four turtles, all their weapons, and Mikey's pizza. At $10 per turtle, the value is excellent (8.2 value score). The display quality surprised us - four BrickHeadz together create more visual impact than you would expect. The 12-year gap since the last TMNT LEGO makes this feel special. LEGO Store exclusive, so plan accordingly.

#8
Germany Postcard (40954) - Score: 7.56
LEGO Germany Postcard 40954

The postcard series continues to be one of LEGO's most consistent small-format lines. Germany delivers the Brandenburg Gate, Munich's New Town Hall, and a high-speed train in microscale. At $14.99, this is the easiest add-to-cart in the April lineup. Pair it with the New York, London, Japan, and Italy postcards for a killer travel display.

#9
Mandalorian BrickHeadz (40856) - Score: 7.46
LEGO Mandalorian BrickHeadz 40856

Five characters in one BrickHeadz pack is good value on paper. The execution is solid - Grogu's Beskar armor printing is a nice detail, and having both heroes and villains adds display variety. But next to the TMNT pack, the character selection feels more like a tie-in product and less like a love letter. Good companion to the Mandalorian wave sets. Less compelling on its own.

#10
Douglas DC-3 PAN AM (11378) - Score: 8.68
LEGO Douglas DC-3 PAN AM 11378

Wait - the highest overall score at the bottom of the ranking? Here is the thing: the DC-3 technically released earlier in April and we reviewed it previously. It scores the highest of any April set at 8.68, making it the objective best build of the month. But since it dropped before the main April 1st wave, we are listing it as a bonus pick rather than competing head-to-head with the new arrivals.

If you missed it: 1,903 pieces of aviation history for $219.99. One of the best Icons sets this year. Read our full review.

#11
AT-RT Attack (75444) - Score: 7.30
LEGO AT-RT Attack 75444

The entry-level Mandalorian set lands at the bottom, but 7.30 is still a solid score. This is a playset aimed at younger builders, and in that context it works well. The minifigure value is the strongest argument for picking it up - Din Djarin and Grogu plus Imperial figures at $44.99 is reasonable. It just cannot compete with the larger sets on build complexity or display impact.
